Clinical Service Fee Changes

Taney County Health DepartmentPress Releases

The Taney County Health Department (TCHD) offers a number of clinical services to county residents at
cost. These services are not covered under general public health funding, but TCHD leadership wants to
ensure that local residents have an affordable option to receive non-public health services. An
additional fee is charged for clients who do not reside in Taney County to offset the use of local tax
dollars for out of county residents. In no event does TCHD charge a fee for profit for services provided.

The Standard Service Fee applies to all clients requesting clinical services not funded by a specific
contract or grant. On January 22nd, the TCHD board voted to increase the standard client clinical service
fee from $15.00 to $20.00 to match the increased costs of providing services. The out of county fee was
also increased to $25.00. The new fees went into effect on February 1, 2018.

The following services are provided to clients by fee for service:

  • STD Testing to include all tests processed through the State of Missouri Public Health Laboratory
  • Laboratory services through a private laboratory in addition to the fee for specific tests
  • TB Skin testing to include the administration of the test and the reading for one service fee

In 2017, TCHD administered 461 STD screenings (also includes treatments and counseling), 653
laboratory tests through private labs and 280 TB Skin tests to local residents at cost. The health
department also provided clinical services to 653 clients who were not residents of Taney County.

“Charging this modest fee allows us to provide services to our residents that most local public health
departments cannot and ensures that they are affordable.” – Pam Priest, Clinical Division Manager.
