Community Health General Information
The local health department has the responsibility of investigating infectious diseases that are identified in Taney County. A list of reportable conditions is established by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
The Taney County Health Department conducts investigations of conditions reported by health care providers and laboratories according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Communicable Disease Investigation Reference Manual. Fact sheets are available for each listed condition.
Reporting forms for Health Care Providers are contained in the DHSS Surveillance Systems Manual.
Norovirus is a virus that causes the “stomach flu,” or vomiting and diarrhea, in people. Outbreaks occur as the virus is spread very easily from person to person. The illness is usually not very serious, but older people, children, or those with other medical issues may have serious complications that can result in hospitalization.
